We had a scare early Tuesday morning and ended up in the Labor and Delivery department of the hospital at 3:00am. I had been experiencing some pain in my side throughout the day, but I thought it was just baby Hesty’s stubborn foot refusing to move. I woke up with worsening pain in my side around 1:00am and realized I was having contractions. We called the nurse and she asked us to come to the hospital. Things improved one we got to the hospital, so I figured it had resolved and the nurses would think I was an idiot first time mom. They checked me out said there were no signs of active labor, but noted that I needed to stay for a few hours in observation. I mentioned the pain in my side and the fact that there was a bump. The resident OB did an ultrasound and determined it was a fibroid that was likely degenerating and was causing the pain. Around 5-6 am Brett asked when we could go home. The doctor said I couldn’t leave yet as I was contracting every 3-5 minutes. After some medication, things calmed down and we able to go home around 11:30am.
Once home, I was still having contractions, but less severe. I saw my OB the next day and there are no signs of early labor. However, I have been unable to go to work since.
Things have improved a lot over the weekend. I am no longer in pain and can walk without causing contractions. So I’ll be trying a half day at work tomorrow. Hopefully that goes well and is the last of the excitement for at least another 7-8 weeks.
